b Love Kurisu Art is about expressing and sharing light, love and positive energy with art. My work is modern and contemporary, a blend of East meets West. My vibe is uplifting and inspirational.
I have experienced tragic events. The darkness I’ve seen has motivated me to express my feelings through art as a bright shining light
for all to see and experience.
My style has many influences, including music. I’ve been painting since my early childhood. My grandmother was an artist, painter and musician. My mother was also a painter and musician. Both have influenced my art. As a drummer and percussionist, concepts such as rhythm, tempo and dynamic range are present in each piece.
While living in Japan, I embraced woodblock printing and a style of calligraphy called Shodo. This is when I started to develop my personal style of brush strokes. While in Asia, I also traveled extensively and studied Buddhism which has influenced my art.

Sometimes a single brushstroke can speak loudly like an exclamation point! Other times, the entire piece can float softly like a suggestion, hint or whisper in your ear.

I don’t believe strength is something physical and it’s not the absence of weakness. Strength is endurance and commitment which overcomes the many weaknesses we may have. The concept of strength and resilience is in each piece.

Not what we see and observe - beauty is inside us - our heart, soul, honesty and goodness. I believe beauty is much more powerful as an experience - when we feel it, we know it like a lightning bolt. My work is often raw, honest and bold. This is how I communicate beauty in my work. The feeling of love is the highest pinnacle of beauty.
Mystery
There is an inherent mystery to all things observable because our perceptions are largely subjective. Each piece is a discovery process - where I start might be very different from where the piece ends. In many ways, each piece takes a life of its own. Hopefully there is always something to interpret in my work.
Reflections
As a personal discipline, I try to look back at the end of each day and reflect on my actions, words, and interactions. The concept of reflecting on life and love is in each piece.
In many ways, I consider the female form to be a perfect metaphor for strength, beauty and mystery. Without question, I admire and respect the female form. My goal as an artist isn’t to capture perfection. I much prefer to communicate a feeling we can reflect on as observers of the art piece.
Hopefully the feeling is love. A memory love. Celebrating love today.
